A rubellite is a member of the tourmaline family, coming in a range of red shades from deep cranberry to bright fuchsia. Rubellites are quite rare, finding popularity in the last century. They are believed to strengthen love and devotion and therefore would make a wonderful Valentines Day gift!
A ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone. Rubies are known as one of four precious stones, along with sapphires, emeralds and diamonds. They are always lighter red or pink than garnet. Rubies are one of the oldest known gemstones to mankind. They have long been revered for their beautiful qualities. Corundum, which Rubies are made from, is created from aluminum, iron, chromium and titanium.
