Nothing sparkles like a diamond! To get that sparkle back in your diamond jewelry, we suggest soaking your diamonds for 20 minutes in a 1:2 ratio of warm water and lemon ammonia. Remove after 20 minutes and gently scrub the diamond and prongs with a very soft-bristle toothbrush. Rinse with warm water and lay on a towel to dry.
GEMSTONES
Every color stone has its unique colors and qualities, and therefore, cleaning and care is different for each one. A good reference is the Moh's Scale of Hardness, which measures durability of materials with 10 (diamonds) being the hardest. In some cases, the more durable a stone is, the less likely they are to become damaged in daily activity or regular cleaning. Most colored gemstones can be cleansed in soapy water, but special care is required for certain stones. Do wipe your precious gemstone jewelry thoroughly with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. This will enhance the patina and assure that your jewelry is clean before being stored.
PEARLS
Cultured pearls are especially soft and vulnerable. When getting dressed, your cultured pearls should be the last item you put on and the first item you take off. Makeup, hair spray, perfume and other chemicals are very harmful to cultured pearls. It's a good idea to wipe them with a clean, damp cloth after each use to remove build-up, dirt and oil. Hot water, steam, extreme temperatures and ultrasonic cleaners should be avoided as well.
SILVER
Silver should not come into contact with harsh household chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, or chlorine. To avoid scratches, store silver in a lined jewelry box or pouch, as it is prone to tarnish as it naturally reacts with sulfur or hydrogen sulfide in the air. Cleaning and wearing silver jewelry regularly will prevent this and help maintain its shine. Immediately upon noticing any discoloration, use a gentle polish made specifically for removing tarnish.
GOLD
To keep your gold jewelry looking vibrant, we recommend using a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Soak your gold in a mild detergent for 10-15 minutes and then gently scrub it with a soft brush. Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly with a soft polishing cloth.
