As we start settling into the New Year, we start getting full swing into our New Year's Resolutions. What was your resolution this year? Travel more, workout more, or maybe to start gardening or get outside more to be healthier. There are so many resolutions; but what about protecting your jewelry?
For those of you who are wanting to travel more, Jewelers Mutual has 3 great videos with tips to help you keep your jewelry tangle free and neat in your suitcase. Make sure if you are flying to put your jewelry in your carry-on, because putting it in your checked bag you are more likely to have it stolen or lost. Make a list of the jewelry you are traveling with and document each piece with pictures or a video. When keeping jewelry in the hotel make sure to use the hotel safe to store the pieces you are not wearing.
Those of you who want to workout more, make sure to remove your jewelry before working out. You do not want to damage your jewelry using gym equipment. If you are a swimmer salt water and chlorine can also damage your jewelry. Sweat is not good for sterling silver.
For those of you who want to be outside more or start a garden to get healthier. Sunscreen and bug spray can get into crevices of prongs and chains and create a film on your jewelry making it dingy. The sun can bleach certain materials and dirty or small rocks are abrasive and can permanently damage your jewelry.
So no matter what your resolution is...make sure you are taking care of your jewelry too. Keep it safe and clean and make sure to enjoy it! ??
